UP CLOSE WITH NATURE
The beach, the desert and the mountains—it’s all right there in Los Cabos. From family-friendly beach horseback riding to high-adrenaline mountain biking, visitors of all age groups and fitness levels can find the perfect way to get off the beaten path, explore dramatic landscapes and experience the glories of nature.
And if one day is not enough, imagine a night or more under the stars camping in style—glamping at its finest.
On the Wild Side
With the sea, mountain and desert right at its doorstep, Los Cabos features so many opportunities for visitors to explore the glorious surroundings. Hiking is a great way to start the explorations, either on a guided tour or just following one’s own personal interests. Nearby highlights include the waterfall at Santiago, where a moderate hike leads to a 35-foot waterfall that cascades into a beautiful lagoon, and a challenging uphill hike to the top of Mount Solmar—where spectacular views of Cabo San Lucas are the payoff.
新沙巴体育For a different perspective, horseback riding can be fun for the whole family or a romantic way to connect with each other and the scenery. Several outfits in both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas offer a variety of options for both group excursions and private guided tours. Consider a leisurely ride along the beach, a desert excursion to get up close with the plants and animals who make their home in Los Cabos, a trail ride along spectacular canyons, or rides that mix both the desert and the beach.
Or for a touch of the exotic, how about a camel safari? This unique family-friendly activity brings the desert to life and provides one-of-a-kind photo ops.
Looking for more of a rush? Mountain biking brings visitors right into the heart of the desert with a fun-filled, fast-paced ride overlooking vast landscapes, gliding down hills and traversing secluded beaches, with plenty of opportunities to stop and take in the ancient cacti and wildlife like red tail hawks, roadrunners and more. Mountain bikes are available for hourly rentals or visitors can join in half- or full-day tours.
If that’s not enough, for a fully immersive experience, longer excursions combine mountain biking with upscale camping experiences known as glamping. Days are spent mountain biking, hiking and exploring the outdoors, while evenings bring luxury tents, comfy beds and fine linens, delicious organic cuisine and star-filled skies.
And for those seeking the biking experience without the full-on exertion, a relatively new option throughout the region is ebikes—electric bikes that do the bulk of the work, allowing riders the leisure to fully take in their surroundings.
Another adrenaline-packed way to enjoy the view is with an ATV. Explorers can choose their own pace, from a relatively easy ride to extreme adventure, either individually or with guides. Some possibilities: undeveloped white-sand beaches, rugged canyons, hidden wetlands, dry riverbeds and other off-road adventures.
